Day 3: Media // DFI

 Day 3: Media // DFI

Reflection from Day 2 learning in class:

One thing that was on top for myself and using the learning I’ve learnt this week is…

My students were able to pin two tabs that we use often in class. They were buzzing that when they reopened google chrome there tabs were still there.

Using the dashboard to view and manage students files via the dashboard tab. You can group your students to be able to share files with a select group of students. If you need to keep track of a student you can drag their tile to the top, to keep a track with what they are doing.

Connecting with Manaiakalani - Create

Create -

I really liked the statement from the Lifelong Kindergarten group. I really enjoy learning through play/doing within schools.

This slide spoke to me alot! I love hands-on learning. Whether it is gardening, building, using papatuanuku and being a kaitiaki for her. I try to involve my students in what learning they would like to do. Creativity involved in the classrooms. Getting everyone involved and sharing their ideas and thoughts.

When we create we use our whole body.

From the Create presentation, I have found that a lot of the kaupapa that was spoken about is the type of learning that I like to do in my class. Creating is giving students purpose. Making connections is important for teaching, learning, for our students and whanau, and is a big part of my culture. My people believed that making connections is important when getting to know people. Or in other words whakawhanaungatanga.

Chalk and Talk

Youtube:

Great new learning. On how to create a youtube channel and how to make playlists. How you can create playlists of videos that students can view and is helpful for students to use in their learning.

If you click share you can share it straight to your blog.

Kerry gave me some great advice to keep my personal playlist to be in my personal email and my school email to be for playlists I’ll use in school.

Deep dive: Media.

There is so much that can be said within a few minutes within a video. It can be captivating, motivational and moving for our students.

Links to things that you can do with google drawing. Make sure to change the setting for the link so anyone with this link can access your image.

- I like this aspect of google drawings to put your image into a shape! I think I might teach my students this next week!

I really enjoyed creating this in google drawings.

Chalk N Talk:

Google Slides:

There is a lot of things you can do on Google Slides, I am thinking about exploring google slides and using this within my class.

I am going to use one of the ideas from the create section of the slides shared with us. To build into my literacy programme.

Levelling up session:

Working with Google Drawing and exploring more of its functions.

Ctrl + D = duplicate a shape to create a flowchart or GO.

All of the google drawings tools work the same for google  slides.

Double click in your shape and you will be able to write in the shape without adding a text box.

If you want to change the colour of your shape and want patterns or lines of different colours you click on gradient then linear and then you can change the angle and direction of the lines/colours.

Creating with Google Slides: Kiwaha - Makaore

I learnt a lot within this space of learning.

I learnt the following:

  • Put a picture in the background. - Ctrl+Shift+Down Arrow.

  • To bring it to the front you will then do: Ctrl+Shift+Up Arrow.

  • How to publish my slides to the web then getting the code to embed it to my blog!

Nga mihi Makaore!!!

Thank you! I had fun working with another bubble leader and learning new kiwhaha! Mote is amazing and I have used in for my literacy tasks this week! My tamariki did not realise it was my voice that was reading to them!
