DFI // Day 6 // Enabling Access

  DFI // Day 6 // Enabling Access

Using Jamboard within my google meets to build connections with my tamariki. This has been really engaging and has been helpful with my students. Having to create some rewindable learning videos for my students to show them how to do something has helped some of my tamariki.

Managing working from home, home schooling my 6year old and house work has gotten better this week as I get into a rythym of things.

Chalk ‘n’ Talk

Having rewindable learning on my site, having personalised learning and having a visual aspect to your site.

My next intention for my class site is to add my planning so my tamariki and whanau can see what is going to happen that week and when.

If you have a class site and everything is on there you can use it in your teaching registration. All you need to do is give them the url for your site.

It is best to plan your site beforehand to help when you are creating your site. Keep the font consistent throughout the site.

As the picture states.

I need to learn to hide pages so then you will always have it there when you need it.

When making your class site you need to have in the back of your mind that your students need to be able to navigate the site easily.

  1. Emma,
you have achieved lots in one session on your site. It is looking great! You have thought about how your learners access their mahi and making it smooth and easy for them.
One suggestion I have is to think carefully about putting any screenshots or screen recordings of your Meets on your site as they have the student's full names visible. We need to protect our student's online identity and we teach them to only use their first name. Email me and I will send you a work around for this.

    1. Thank you Cheryl,

I will email you today for the work around for that! Being Cybersmart is something I need to work on. I did go back and blocked out their names. I would love to know how to do it another way.

  2. Hi Emma

Your site is looking fabulous, well done you! Nice work on the Screencastify too. Unfortunately, you're web link is not working, we can get that organised tomorrow.

    1. Hi Kerry!

Thank you! I had to think from the view of my students because at times I get carried away with what it looks like and not what the context is about.

    2. Visual appeal is important Emma, it all adds to that hook that gets students interested :)
